Privacy Policy

Oursync ("Oursync", "we", "us", or "our") is a tool that helps partners, mainly couples, schedule events together without either of them having to keep track of both their schedules. In this policy, "the app" means the Oursync mobile application and related services. This policy also covers our website.

We keep what we collect to the minimum needed to run the service:

• Account information. Your email address, a password (stored only as a secure hash by our authentication provider), and the display name you choose for your partner to see.
• Partner invitations. When you invite a partner, we use the email address you enter to send and manage that invitation.
• Busy time slots. If you choose to share a personal calendar with the Oursync app, it syncs only the time ranges when you are busy, never the titles, locations, or other details of those events. These busy times are what let Oursync schedule events at times that work for both of you. We store only your upcoming slots; once a slot is in the past we purge it automatically, since we no longer need it.
• Events you create in Oursync. The events you create inside the app: a title you type, the start and end time, and their status (scheduled, confirmed, rejected, cancelled).
• Basic technical data. Standard information needed to operate and secure the service, such as app version.
• Website usage data. If you accept analytics cookies on our website, Google Analytics collects anonymous information about how you use the site, such as the pages you visit, a general location such as your country or city, and basic device and browser details.

When Oursync checks your device calendar for conflicts, it reads only your busy time ranges. It never reads, stores, or transmits:

• The titles or descriptions of your existing calendar events
• Locations, addresses, or map data
• Notes, attachments, or meeting links
• Guests, attendees, or organizers

This is a core design choice, not a setting. Your partner is prevented from scheduling over you without ever seeing what you’re busy with.

• To create and secure your account and sign you in
• To send and manage invitations to connect with a partner
• To check proposed events against both members' availability and book only times that are free for both
• To show your partner whether a time works, and to keep both of you updated on an event's status
• To send you notifications about your events and account

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.

If you are in the European Economic Area or the UK, we process your personal data on these bases:

• Contract. To create your account and provide the service you signed up for, including booking events at times that are free for both. Providing your account details is necessary to use Oursync; without them we cannot provide it.
• Legitimate interests. To keep the service secure.
• Consent. Where required, for example to send push notifications or to run analytics on our website. You can withdraw consent at any time.

We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with service providers who help us run Oursync, under contracts that require them to protect it:

• Amazon Web Services. Cloud hosting and database.
• Apple. To deliver push notifications to your device.
• Google. Google Analytics, to understand how our website is used.

We may also disclose data where required by law.

Oursync is operated from the United States, and your data is stored and processed there. If you use Oursync from the EEA or UK, your data is transferred to the US. We rely on our providers’ data protection terms and Standard Contractual Clauses to protect it. Google, which provides our website analytics, also processes data in the United States and is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.

Our website uses Google Analytics to understand how it is used. Analytics cookies are set only if you accept them in the cookie banner, and you can change or withdraw your choice at any time. We do not use cookies for advertising. The Oursync mobile app does not use cookies.

When you connect with a partner, you share a "circle", a single shared calendar. Within it, your partner can see the events you propose together and their status. For your personal calendar, your partner can only ever learn that a given time is available or unavailable for booking, never the underlying event or the reason it’s blocked.

Your data is stored on secure cloud infrastructure (Amazon Web Services), and connections to our services are encrypted in transit. We restrict access to your data to what is needed to run the service.

We keep your information for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from the account section of the app. When you do, we delete your account data, apart from anything we are required to retain by law.

Your busy time slots are only ever stored for upcoming dates. We do not need your past availability, so slots are automatically purged once their time has passed.

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise any of these, contact us at email us. We will respond within the time required by applicable law.

If you are in the EEA or UK, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

Oursync is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country), and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will remove it.

We may update this policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
